This year Tamasha became one of Soho Theatre’s Associate Companies and also recently saw the launch of Artistic Director Fin Kennedy’s new weekly writers’ group Tamasha Playwrights. To mark this new partnership, the company will be hosting their latest scratch night in Soho’s upstairs theatre, showcasing a selection of new work from the group.

Featuring: Two women on opposite sides of the world linked by roses – and the man who buys them – in Roses by Sharmila Chauhan, an elderly Pakistani man lies dying, but he has a surprise final request for his wife in Grave by Mediah Ahmed, Asif Khan asks, why do you never see any Asian tramps? in his piece, Tight Bastards, two girls on the cusp on adulthood have their friendship tested by the aftermath of the 7/7 bombings in Sally Woodcock’s Blue Whales and two best friends reconnect after a tragic accident in A Different Man by Sophia Mertins.

Following the scratch performances there will be a short Q&A with the writers and Tamasha’s Co-Artistic Director, Fin Kennedy.

Tamasha is Britain’s foremost touring theatre company producing new plays inspired by the diversity of a globalised world. Their work places the voices of emerging and established artists from culturally diverse backgrounds centre-stage. Successes like East is East, Snookered and My Name is… have won acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

‘Great energy, sassy, sexy, blunt, fresh perspective on a perennial theme! Very, very good acting and very, very funny. I was moved…to laugh… nearly to tears.’
Audience member, Tamasha Scratch, September 2012

‘Compelling pieces of theatre with such a unique voice… These pieces completely reinvigorated my belief that new and exciting work is being done with a strong message.’
Audience member, Tamasha Scratch, January 2013
