In Mike Birbiglia’s My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, Mike shares a lifetime of romantic blunders and miscues that most adults would spend a lifetime trying to forget. On this painfully honest journey, Mike struggles to find reason in an area where it may be impossible to find—love.

Mike Birbiglia is a comedian, writer and actor best known for his award-winning off-Broadway hits Sleepwalk with Me (2008), and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend (2011) which won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Performance; it was also nominated for a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award.

Birbiglia has emerged as US stand up comedy’s preeminent storyteller. He has starred in three Comedy Central Specials, released two hit CDs for Comedy Central Records, Two Drink Mike and My Secret Public Journal Live, which was named one of the “Best Comedy Albums of the Decade” by The Onion AV Club. Birbiglia has also made regular appearances on Public Radio International’s This American Life.

In 2011, Birbiglia directed and starred in a feature film adaptation of Sleepwalk With Me, which premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival, winning the NEXT Audience Award.

Programmed over a series of Sunday evenings the first interview takes place on Sunday May 20th with acclaimed actor, SIMON RUSSELL BEALE whose award winning performances and theatrical prowess has delighted audiences all over the world.

Sunday May 27th with JEREMY SAMS, equally admired for his skills as a Theatre director, lyricist and translator of opera libretti as well as a composer, orchestrator and musical director.

Sunday June 17th with HOWARD GOODALL the award-winning composer of choral music, stage musical, ballet, film and television scores as well as England’s First National Ambassador for Singing.

Sunday July 8th with KERRY ELLIS musical star both in the West End and on Broadway as well as chart-topping recording artist and headlining concert and festival performer.

Featured singers West End leading ladies CAROLINE SHEEN and EMMA WILLIAMS with Musical Directors BEN STOCK and CRAIG ADAMS.

The evenings are being staged to benefit the Theatrical Guild, the only charity that looks after backstage and front-of-house personnel in need, with all proceeds going towards their invaluable work.

In contrast, MC Mixy’s explores whether an MC can be accepted by Peterborough’s poetry community. Soho is Tim Arnold, and Tim Arnold is Soho. In the 1950’s his comedian grandfather worked with the legendary Paul Raymond, in the 1960’s his mother Polly Perkins danced her way into W1 history at the Windmill Theatre. Tim is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has gone from Britpop to Shakespeare’s Globe, Thai Rock to Baroque, and now embracing the only constant and reoccurring theme in his career: writing and singing about London’s Soho.

In 2012, Tim and his band bring a new collection of songs from his forthcoming album ‘The Soho Hobo’. A personal journey through Soho’s past, present and future, premiering at The Soho Theatre featuring:

Headlong, ‘the country’s most exciting touring company’ (Telegraph), brings Ella Hickson’s brilliant new play, Boys, to Soho Theatre for its London debut. Hickson (Precious Little Talent, Eight), one of the UKs most promising new writers, collaborates with director Robert Icke, who follows his ‘extraordinary’ (Observer) production of Romeo and Juliet for Headlong.

It’s finals day for the Class of 2011. Benny, Mack, Timp and Cam are due out of their five bedroom flat tomorrow morning; five bedrooms, five chairs, four boys – and one hell of a party. Stepping into a world that doesn’t want them, these boys start to wonder whether there’s any point in getting any older. How will they find the fight to make it as adults? FOSTER’S EDINBURGH COMEDY AWARD NOMINEE 2011

Holly Walsh (Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer Nominee 2011, Chortle Best Newcomer, Dave ‘Top 10 Stand-ups 2011’) brings her long awaited debut stand up hour to the Soho Theatre.

In August 2010, Holly broke her arm whilst attempting to fly off a pier in a novelty aircraft. After a five hour operation, four days in hospital, six weeks off work and a year of physiotherapy, Holly was determined something positive should come of the experience. So she wrote this show. In her debut hour, Holly recounts the true story of how she came to find herself standing on the edge of a 40ft pier, next to man dressed as Rambo, with nothing but a homemade helicopter to save her.

A dance-theatre show exploring how gay men have met and seduced each other, from the 60’s to the present day.

Coinciding with World Pride 2012 weekend, the show is part of a collective celebration of relationships and intimacy. Blending bodies with beats and contemporary dance styles with gesture, the dancers move their way through this world of late night lust, combining seduction, sex and moments of human tenderness.

Workshops on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 June at 4pm will explore queer histories, engaging LGBT youth in some of the less prominent narratives of developments, from changing attitudes to homosexuality to queer subcultures.

Performance followed by a post-show discussion with Joseph Mercier and dancer Sebastian Langueneur, about the thematic of the show and the artistic processes undergone by the company

The Found Footage Festival, the acclaimed showcase of odd and hilarious found videos, will make its UK debut at the Soho Theatre.

Founded in New York City in 2004, the FFF is a one-of-a-kind event featuring VHS tapes discovered at thrift shops and garage sales throughout North America. Hosts Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show with David Letterman) host each screening in-person and provide their unique observations and commentary on these found video obscurities. From the curiously-produced industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects these forgotten treasures and serves them up in a lively celebration of all things found.

Kevin is into his new book in a big way; but it’s time for bed, and Dad won’t stop nagging him to turn out the light. Suddenly, Kevin finds himself in the thick of the action alongside his hero, the streetwise investigator Rockfist Slim.

Somehow they must travel through all the books on Kevin’s bookshelf to find a way home and escape the clutches of the mysterious underworld baddie known only as The Green Shark. Their headlong dash takes them through Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Kidnapped, a book of Ghost Stories and even Chess For Beginners… only just avoiding a family of jelly-throwing Wooblies along the way!

A wonderfully inventive play by Britain’s most popular and most frequently performed dramatist which emphasises the value of reading, and the power of the imagination to transport the reader to other worlds.

The Boy Who Fell Into A Book is part of the London 2012 Festival, a spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK.

Geo Wyeth (fka Novice Theory) is a New York City based musician who uses his body to channel stories as a means of interruption.

Wyeth’s songs and stories are darkly humorous and ecstatic meditations on the absurdity of embodied experience, and draw inspiration from both experimental and popular musical forms. He is an out female to male transsexual and was born in New York City in 1984. Startling musicianship not to be missed.

Previously at Soho Theatre as a performer in Justin Vivian Bond’s Lustre, Geo’s astonishing performances led to an appearance on BBC’s Later with Jools Holland.

In 2002, John Osborne won a competition on John Peel’s Radio One show. His prize was a box of records that took eight years to listen to. This five-star, sell-out smash theatre hit of the Edinburgh Festival, adapted for BBC Radio Four and broadcast in 2011, is an ode to radio, those records and anyone who’s ever sought solace in wireless.

John Osborne’s debut storytelling hour features records previously owned by Peel and it is script edited by Joe Dunthorne (Writer of Submarine). Following its fifty-date national tour, John Peel’s Shed comes to London’s Soho Theatre.
