Momaya Press Awards

Join us as we celebrate the winners of the 8th Annual Momaya Short Story Competition which is open the general public. Our goal is to encourage both readers and writers to engage in the short story as an art form. You’ll glean insight into the publishing industry from our expert panel, and be entertained as actors perform the top three stories. We’ll start the evening with a relaxing wine reception (your ticket will entitle you to one complimentary glass of wine or soft drink).

Schedule for the event:
Panel discussion:
Everything you wanted to know about publishing a novel…
Alice Shepherd (Assistant Editor, Penguin).
Kay Peddle (Editor, Random House)
Polly Courtney (novelist: Golden Handcuffs, Poles Apart, The Day I Died, The Fame Factor and Defying Gravity)

Performance:
Actors from East 15 perform the winning stories. Greed is the theme for the Momaya Annual Review 2011. In the First Place story “Where There is a Will”, greed is illustrated quite literally when a wealthy man dies and friends and relatives scramble to discover who will inherit. Greed for power is shown in our Second Place story “Mao Yanshou” as the protagonist exerts his position by casting off a beautiful would-be bride for the emperor. Greed for sexual experience and freedom from the constraints of marriage are explored in the Third Place story “Will You Miss Me?”
