Renowned for his cutting edge comedy and intrepid social commentary, double Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee (2007 & 2011) and star of BBC’s Live at the Apollo & Sky’s Wall of Fame, Andrew Maxwell is always a must-see for any comedy fan. Always adept at making shrewd and balanced political observations, Maxwell was one of the first comics in last year’s Edinburgh to react to the riots in England and the Arab Spring and evolve his act accordingly to rave reviews.
Andrew has had several sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and appearances at The Amnesty / Channel Four Secret Policeman’s Ball (alongside Eddie Izzard, Chevy Chase and Dylan Moran – ‘Maxwell turned it around… he made us feel part of an event.’ – Times), Glastonbury, Kilkenny’s Cat Laughs, The HBO US Comedy & Arts Festival in Las Vegas (alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock), and the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival.
Andrew has won and been nominated for several other major awards including the Time Out Live Award for Best Stand-up, the Loaded Magazine Award for Best Stand-up and the Chortle Award for Best Contribution To The Live Comedy Circuit. He was also recently voted Best Irish Comedian by the public at the Entertainment.ie Awards.
