Krystle Warren has the intensity of a classic soul singer, but as her new album Circles (on Manu Chao’s label Because) shows, she’s also an inspirational writer.
Born in Kansas City and living in Paris, she made her mark here on Later with Jools Holland, and since then she’s been invited onto the London Jazz Festival’s opening gala, toured with vocal masters Naturally 7 and will take part in Way To Blue, a celebration of Nick Drake.
‘Warren's talents are extraordinary. She has an octave-hopping voice that glides between languid and urgent, and music that hovers between funk, folk and jazz, between Jeff Buckley and Nina Simone. She's the real deal’
