Justin Young

Justin was Artistic Director of W11 Opera for Young People from 1998-2001 for whom he directed four premieres, including Flying High at the Linbury Studio, ROH.

His other work as a director includes St Nicholas (Assembly Rooms and Soho Theatre), Rum & Vodka & The Good Thief (Soho Theatre, Glasgow Citizens, and Cultura Inglesa Festival of Sao Paolo), and The Bear (King’s Head Theatre).  He was also Assistant Director for the West End hit Art and directed The Sundowe, the winning show at the 2006 Cameron Mackintosh Highland Quest for a New Musical.

Work as a writer includes: The Houghmagandie Pack (Grid Iron and Unique Events) and Fierce – An Urban Myth, also for Grid Iron, which won a CATS Award, a Stage Award, a Herald Devil Award, and was nominated for the TMA Award for Best Musical.

Most recently Justin has written Metagama, a commission for Soho Theatre, and has developed a new music theatre piece at the National Theatre Studio with composer Nick Powell. He has also been selected for the 2007 BBC Writers Academy.
