DJ Excalibah

At the age of 18, Excalibah was the first signing to BBC 1Xtra. During his time at the BBC (Radio 1/Asian Network/6 Music) he became known for promoting and breaking fresh UK talent. He won ‘Best Radio Show’ and ‘Best Radio Presenter’ in most of the top hip-hop press for 2003, 2004 and 2005. As a club DJ he’s played across the continent and been resident at Fabric & Ministry of Sound. As a journalist Excalibah writes monthly columns for Hip Hop Connection and Big Smoke; he has also written for papers such as the Sunday Telegraph. As well as musically directing small workshops and projects with companies such as Cardboard Citizens and the NAYT, Excalibah has been involved with several contemporary musical theatre productions with Stratford East, including Aeroplane Man, Spoke Fest and the groundbreaking play within a concert Da Boyz, which he co-composed and musically directed. He is the youngest member on the Board of Directors at Theatre Royal Stratford East. Excalibah has released his latest compilation UK Dubstate Mixtape and is currently working on a controversial new musical. He is getting ready to reclaim his spot on the nation’s airwaves: he has now joined Galaxy FM.
