Jon read Music as a choral scholar at Oxford University and Fine Art at Exeter College of Art before training on the Motley Theatre Design Course. He was a finalist in The Linbury Prize. Theatre designs include Julius Caesar, Terminus (Abbey Theatre, Dublin); Scenes From The Back Of Beyond (Royal Court); The Soldier’s Tale (Old Vic); Notes From Underground (West End); James and the Giant Peach (Octagon Theatre, Bolton); The Great Highway (Gate Theatre, London); Cymbeline, Macbeth (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre); Frankenstein (Derby Playhouse); Shrieks of Laughter (Soho Theatre); The New Tenant, Interior, The Exception And The Rule, Winners and The Soul Of Chien-nu (Young Vic); Bread And Butter (Tricycle); Carver (Arcola Theatre); The Last Waltz season (Oxford Stage Company); Melody, In The Bag (Traverse); Sanctuary, The Tempest (Royal National Theatre) and The Taming Of The Shrew (Thelma Holt /Theatre Royal, Plymouth). Dance designs include Snow White In Black (Phoenix Dance Theatre- Dance Critics Circle award); Echo and Narcissus, Ghosts, Before The Tempest, Sophie, Stateless and Asyla (Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House); Mixtures, (English National Ballet); Non Exeunt (George Piper Dances/ Sadler’s Wells), and Marjorie’s World Unhinged (Tilted). Opera design includes The Knot Garden (Klangbogen Festival, Vienna); The Queen Of Spades (Edinburgh Festival Theatre), Cosi Fan Tutte (Handmade Opera), and King Arthur (New Chamber Opera). Forthcoming work includes a new version of the Stravinsky ballet Firebird (Bern Ballet, Switzerland), Nightime (Traverse), The Lighthouse(Poliziano, Montelpuciano) and a new devised piece for Filter, entitled Water (Lyric, Hammersmith).
