Paulette’s career to date has been a mixture of theatre directing and television producing – with some writing thrown in. Most recently she was at Arena Stage in Washington DC directing her second production of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean.Other recent credits include: Diamond Hard
(Almeida Theatre); What’s in the Cat (Contact, Manchester /Royal Court); Gem of the Ocean (The Tricycle); The Three Sisters (Birmingham Rep/national tour). As Artistic Director of Talawa Theatre, Paulette directed: Urban Afro Saxons (Theatre Royal, Stratford East); Blest be the Tie (Royal Court); Abena’s Stupidest Mistake (Drill Hall); Blues for Mr Charlie (New Wolsey Ipswich/ Tricycle); High Heel Parrotfish (Theatre Royal, Stratford East). Other theatre credits include August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson; Two Trains Running; King Hedley II; and the musical Up Against the Wall for which she also co-wrote the book. All these were produced at The Tricycle.Television credits include Desmonds; The Real McCoy; Porkpie; Marvin (pilot); Comin’ Atcha; Blouse and Skirt (producer/director); The Crouches; Kerching for the BBC.
Paulette is Chairman of the Board for Clean Break Theatre Company.
