Amy Lamé's Mama Cass Family Singers
15 - 25 November 2006

written and performed by Amy Lamé
directed by Christine Harmar-Brown

Amy Lamé was a chubby child star in a 60’s cover band. Touring with her dysfunctional siblings she had everything she ever wanted – fame, fortune and sandwiches. She lived the American dream until it turned around and bit her on the ass.

With acid-tongued wit and shocking revelation, Amy peels away the layers of her obscure past: Why were four fat kids made to sing? How did her family get so messed up? Did Mama Cass really die choking on a ham sandwich?

A surreal collision of fantasy and fact, Amy Lamé’s Mama Cass Family Singers is a tragi-comic misremembered memoir. The show features Amy’s own family in brilliantly off-the-wall interviews alongside timeless tunes of the legendary Mamas and Papas.

Seen on countless TV shows and a regular on BBC Radio, Amy is co-founder of Olivier Award winning performance club Duckie. Having conquered the airwaves and after a successful run at the Edinburgh festival she makes her Soho Theatre.

'Surreal and delightful.'
