What in the World do We Write?
Chaired by Lisa Goldman, this discussion will examine the process of reckoning with and rendering today’s world in our writing. The panel, including playwright Philip Ridley (The Pitchfork Disney, The Bush Theatre; Mercury Fur, Paines Plough), Theresa Heskins (director of White Open Spaces at Soho later this month, and Artistic Director of Pentabus Theatre Company) and Jennifer Farmer (Compact Failure, Clean Break; Sheila Lemon Writer in Residence at The Bush Theatre 2004/05), will look at ideas of public relevance and dissent in theatre using some of the issues raised in (I am) Nobody’s Lunch and White Open Spaces, as a starting point for debate.
Launch Pads are monthly events for writers, artists and audiences. They are designed to identify and support new talent through readings and workshops and to provide an open forum for discussion, debate and the exploration of challenges and possibilities in the theatre and beyond.
