Neil Grutchfield read Drama and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London before joining the Box Office at the Royal Court Theatre in 1993. Neil has been a part of the Royal Court ever since. As well as his current position of Sales Manager he has supported the YWP writers group, worked as a Front of House Manager and organized script meetings between the Literary Department and the Box Office. Neil’s interest in new writing has lead to him becoming a freelance script reader and he has been employed by the Theatre Writing Partnership, the Eclipse Programme, Nottingham Playhouse, Sonia Friedman Productions, Ambassadors Theatre Group and Zenith Productions readings plays, screenplays, treatments and outlines. In recent years Neil took part in script selection for the Eclipse Laboratory – a programme based in the East Midlands aimed at developing the work of new black British writers. Neil also assisted the workshop leader in running the Momentum Young Writers Programme at the Royal and Derngate Theatres from 2004-2005 culminating in work being performed at the Momentum Festival in Summer 2005. Neil is now a freelance Dramaturg and has worked with Tiata Fahodzi, developing Dipo Agboluaje’s The Estate. He is currently working with Segun Lee-French on a project with Big Creative Ideas.
